Sweetness of CNY and long holidays~

Happy Chinese New Year 2012 to all.
This year was special...
No visitings.
No angbaos.
~~No new clothes?~~
uhhhh. No need to dress up in new clothes (i supposed i should phrase it this way).
Keep it simple, we had a paternal gathering at downtown east chalet.
As we had done so maybe 7 years ago...

Bowling, Karaoke, "horror" ride and CNY Movie~
Monday and Tuesday evening was BBQ evening :)
Wednesday and Thursday was free and easy...
Peaceful and quiet days...
Really thankful to pwen's family mainly for booking the chalet! Awesome idea!
Also my own parents and eileen's parents for helping to bring foodies and driving over :)
Really great to have everybody buying lotsa yummy stuff and helping each other ^^

But if only there were more people...
well...
But there are many many years to come...
I'm hoping~

Tomorrow's working~
Ending my staycation.
Closing a chapter of long holiday...
I'm back to monthly reports and rehearsals~

Wantef to do a review of 2011 but...

Haix. My ability to blog has decreased...

Lets see of my bad day on 5th and 6th of Jan...

Was quite an enjoyable day slacking on the 5th jan till my work timing at yishun... Because the yishun branch staff were going for a branch retreat on the 6th jan therefore other branch ppl need to take over the point. Hence, i was there one day earlier to like observe the closing preparations. Heard frm my starbucks friend, that my hate head officer was being promoted to a manager! Gosh... Bad news already!

Its started out with being unknowningly late for the observation session. They told me im supposed to go at 4.45pm but then i tot.it was 6.30pm ma... So slowly took my time...

Reach there the yishun staff was okay with it... But then my hate head officer was like over the phone like nagging away. Then later on she brought up on the meeting at tampines on 6th Jan frm 9-12noon. We have already decided frm way before hand that i did not have to go for the meeting ma. Den she insisted tt it was a complusory meeting that we have to go no matter what. Thats when i got fustrated. Then i told her that

kluang trip :d

visited Kluang for one day with cousins. As i'm on my way home the ktm train, i typed this blog entry. 1 sentence to describe Kluang folks: helpful and friendly. We asked a number of shopkeepers for directions. most of them took the trouble to point out the correct directions for the delicacies we're looking for :) Our trip started out with taking the 5 star bus from golden mile around 8am. 2nd link jammed up then our journey from Singapore to Kluang was estimated 4hrs. Finally reached kluang at about 12noon, 5 of us were so famished and in searched of botak curry noodles.

Bought 2 inbuilt skirt leggings from gmarket :) 1st one is a pair of dark grey leggings with flare skirt! Its gg to look good with sneakers! 2nd one is a pair of black leggings with much 'hugging' type of skirt.
Love the design because they are somewhat cute and also good to wear when ur long tee is perhaps a lil bit too short to cover ur butt.
It comes to good use to hide tummy perhaps? Try already den tell you guys :)

I went to the wrong venue...
Had to cab over frm the wrong venue... Slack while cos reached too early...
I was so nervous when standing the stage...
Was very unstable. Some parts wobbly and some parts are fine.
Had sung a verse wrongly, but i had recovered fast...
Just hate the part end of a certain sentence, nervous till my voice wobble like nobody's business...

My feelings were too much to be described...
Was desperately trying to find a venue for me to practice singing.
Detoured from another shopping mall to the actual audition venue.
YES! I found an empty toliet at about 11am.
Practice there lor.
At least gotten the very raw voice to be stable.

Reached the venue much too early and was asked to wait a bit before doing registration.
There was quite a handful of people standing around, dressed up rather nicely.
*clutched tummy*
Y I WEAR MY STUPID SNEAKERS!
I spotted a tall girl standing at a corner alone, looking like she was waiting for the contest too.
So being a very sociable libra, i (thickskin-edly) went over and say hi!
hahaha. At least when i chat with somebody, the time flies faster.
lol.

We waited awhile then later on were ushered into a room with a group of contestants.
All waiting for photoshoot~
My face was like -.-'''
dotx leh.
"I am very nervous liao, you still need us to do photoshoot -.-"

Then later on was asked to queue outside the audition room.
Wah, that part i really chua sai lor.
Waiting is very 痛苦。

When i was in the room, was asked to place my bag near the sofa.
Then was told that the mike was on the sofa.
lol, cannot find lor.
Then i realized, it was on the stool behind me~
Zzz.

Uhm, so was told to do self-intro to the 4 judges and the song title.
Really took a deep breathe, and did the self-intro.
Then one of the judges said to directly start from 副歌.
and i dunno that it means from the pre-chorus/chorus part.
Zzz. and i started from the beginning.
2 sentence, then the judge rang the bell.
I WAS SO SHOCKED!
then wondering what i did wrong, staring at the judge who did that.
Then he said, just don't whole the mike till too high, cos will cause a muffled sound.
OH, CHUA SAI!
Then i start again from the chorus this time round.
When it gotten to the particular higher sentence, i can see everybody was listening carefully.
Crap, i was too nervous and that part was very unstable.

So i roughly know that, so i stumbled though the last part.
Putting the mike down, taking my bag and wanted to walk out.
(I TOTALLY FORGOTTEN THERE'S AN INTERVIEW FROM THE JUDGES.)
Before stepping near the door, i heard a comment,"你的尾音很斗"
Then i realized i forgotten the interview, i stopped and turn.
They were saying thank you to me. -.-
I also replied thank you and rushed out of the room.
CRAP!

Was hesitant in taking part in the video contest by Channel U.
After asking cher about my progress in class, i made up my mind.
I will not take part in this round.

I've actually got a good teacher who is not afraid to penalize the students when she has a mistake.
She's not like afraid that what-if she penalize the students then the students don't like her and quit because of that. She'll lose income then what ever happen next.
She points out my mistakes I know where is my weakness and which area should i work on.
Cher told me that I need to work on 1) my high notes even more to make it more stable, and another point is that since young i have this problem:
2) Confidence/Courage level. (big issue)
Not very sure why, But it has been always on the low side as compared to other people.
I'm afraid of making mistakes and being embarrassed, cher said that she 一眼就看的出 my pattern.
3) My low notes aren't developed yet, as my voice is on the higher side. So I will sound very dead when i sing my low keys. Then cher say that low notes are actually harder to sing, and harder to train, that I need to have really very relax vocal muscle to sing low. This occurs in the same area as when i play my flute. My lowest notes (basically in the lower ledger lines) are often very soft or unstable as i have not enough air.
4) Wobbly Wobbly voice.

So, I sang the above song.
It was totally unfamiliar to me, maybe except the chorus.
Well, Cher told me that the verse 1 and 2 was not bad (i actually sang it once only).
and that the 2nd "power up" chorus need to be more powerful and daring.
eh, she said i reallllyyy need to have more courage to sing out.
I think i just need to practice more and repeat and repeat it again.
Waiting for verdict :)

Next week, cher chose 田馥甄 - 寂寞寂寞就好.
She said the reason she choose this song was to train our 胆！

I need to get candy for dissolving phlegm or maybe bring a bottle of warm water to the class.
cos it seemed when i sing the high notes, it seems that i have a lot of phlegm stuck to my throat.

I picked 温岚 - 祝我生日快乐.
Decided not to sing 丁当-我爱他 as it was too repetitive.
I have more confidence in the songs i'm familiar with :)
Waiting for verdict.

Cher's comments:
The happy birthday song is actually a very 長氣(long breath) song, haha, so it actually can help you to make all your long notes very steady and firm if you practise this song a lot.
coz you got the shaky voice problem right, although it's already better now, somehow it's still there.
this kind of "long breath" song will expose all your shaky notes, so if you able to make the whole song sound not to shaky, means if you're singing other songs, your shaky voice problem will be less obvious.

this is a "very-easy-get-boring" song, coz it's quite draggy, so the layering is more important here, try to make the first half second half, different time of chorus sound a bit different.
then the song will be more attractive and interesting.

Next week's song is 温岚 - 傻瓜.
Dunno why, but cher wanna hear us both sing this song.
AND i'm unfamiliar with this song :(

Korea Idol drama introduced to me by Pillar-rah!
Quite sometime ago actually.
She showed me this video (as above) of the actors and actresses singing their version of SNSD's genie.
Immediately i fall in love, head over heels with that song.
It's nice to have a change of other people singing this song instead of the same girl band :)

I love UI and Suzy's voice alot and Jason's dance move.

This was my order at 4am.

It came at 6.30am when its supposed to be 8.30am. Note the price diff too.

lucky order :)

I was not wake when my dad received the orders.
Thinking that it most likely should be correct, my dad just accepted the order.
haha.
I woke up around 6.50am, thinking that something's not right.
Because i had checked that i've put my order at 8.30am.

So i went to check my orders.
Just asking my parents if the Latte and the Cappuccino is nice anot.
Surprisingly they told me that 4 cups of drinks were received.
Then it hit me they might deliver wrongly.
So i went and took a look at the receipt.
True enough, wrong order.
They gave me 2 extra drinks, 1 extra egg macmuffin, 1extra hashbrown and hotcakes.
Woah, the difference was only liddat but it was a $12 difference in the amount.

I did called back and asked the staff.
Apparently they did tried to call me within 10 min once the order was sent out wrongly.
But as i was sleeping, i did not turn on my mobile.
The person on the phone sounded very frustrated but she still asked if we were okay with the food.
Well, there isn't much difference except extra drinks and food lor.
So their loss and my gain la.

I think you can try to do more imitation! This is one way of learning singing, but don't only imitate one singer, try to imitate all the singers when you singing their songs. Doesn't matter whether you sound like them or not, sometimes we can learn a lot of things by imitating the original singer, we'll get the skill and the technique of the singer.
Anyway, I think you sound quite nice for the verse of the song, but you are still afraid of the high notes...
Hope to see the day that you can conquer the high notessssss! haha.

I love her image then (during the chubby/cute times) because she was like an idol to me :)
But then when she went the sexy route, i was irked by the image she was portraying.
Oh. I chose 說愛你 because that song was once memorized during secondary school times.

Be happy when you're singing a happy song!
Slightly out of breath right? when listening to the recording then can hear clearly.
Need to work out on the "groove", this is a rhythmic song, so you must try to catch the rhythmic feel of the song, try to create the groove by singing it. moving your body really will help in creating the groove.

anyway, the rap is good! haha!

This is a song i like very much :)
But somewhat too high key for me.
haha.

"You cannot sing too low key, coz your voice will tend to go very heavy when your key is low. When the voice is "heavy", will give ppl a feeling that you cannot control your vocal, and the "reading lyrics" feel will come out.

You can sing better, but you must have more confidence in yourself, don't keep on thinking that your singing is like sai when you're singing, when you start singing, think nothing besides the song itself.

I'm not sure whether you still remember how we practise the falsetto that night, if you still can remember, try and exercise more before singing the actual song, it'll help.
Whenever there's some part you cannot handle, try to spot it out and practise for a few times first, then sing the whole song.

Supposed to be bubbly and cute.
But I think i didnt managed to be again!
After so many 2 weeks didn't sing, rusty voice :(

I think you are still not used to sing, coz you don't sound "enjoying singing", you need to be more relax, don't take it as you are having lesson so must sing "properly", treat it as you are singing in bedroom, it might sound nicer.
Music is meant to be somekind of entertainment, too serious or too nervous, both won't be nice.
And I think your singing is improving, the shaky voice has become more and more smooth.

By the way, I think your voice is very "young", so actually quite suitable to sing this SHE song, just that you didn't really catch the 3/4 beat, try imagine you are dancing when you're singing this kind of 3/4 song.

Next week will be singing "songs that we like, but diffcult songs."

Looked what has arrived!

Via registered mail

It has arrived within 2 working days and on my off day too!
The postman came around 10.30am in the morning.
I was like blurry hearing the knocking.
Then realized its real knocking!
Rushed out of bed to open the door.
Even the postman uncle got a shock!
He blabbered (yes he did!) that he knock 5 times and he tot nobody was in and was about to go off.
LOL!

Overall, the buy was quite okay only la.
Cos the swan and the hairband isn't the same as the picture given in the website.
See that round earrings with flowers looks the same as the picture but its so heavy that i doubt i'll wear it often.
The best one will be the "LOVE" earrings! <3

Hey remember last time i had this green lens from Freshlook that i complained of blurriness?
The "considered cheap" lens i had bought tgt with Peili.
I went back to the CCK optical store (the one which Peili hates) and questioned them in regards of the lens.
The lady told me that there's nothing wrong with the lens, it was just that i had worn the lens inside out.
As i had threw them away, so i tot that maybe what she said was right and thought maybe i really had worn it wrong way.

Now that there's a news of counterfeit contact lenses!
and its exactly that same brand!!!
OMG.
Aishah had brought these lens and had similar problems!
She should really go back to the optical shop and question them or directly go HSA to asked if its the counterfeit lens and get back her cash!

Anybody remember that i bought a set of contact lens solution and gotten a cute teddy bear?
